Tottie Set To Sponsor Scottish Equestrian Vaulting Team

An exciting new sponsorship will see young and vibrant clothing wear company Tottie sponsor the Scottish Equestrian Vaulting Team (SEVT) throughout 2007.

The team will all be wearing the Tottie clothing as part of their sponsorship which is aimed at supporting young talent.

Richard Lawrence of Tottie said:” We are very excited about our support in the vaulting world, which is great fun. After watching the vaulting at the World Equestrian Games in Aachen we saw how it really caught everyone’s imagination and looked to supporting the Scottish team.”

Avril Murray of the SEVT added: “We are looking forward to working with Tottie, the squad love the clothes and we are very grateful for their support.”

Vaulting is an all year round sport which can best be described as gymnastics on a moving horse. The horse is controlled by a lunger and moves in a 15 metre circle. An indoor or outdoor arena is used for working on the horse along side the barrel or ‘practice horse’. A lot of work can be done on the barrel and in the gym.

Most exercises are performed at canter, although practising difficult manoeuvres are done at walk.

SEVT was founded in 1996, with the aim of producing a team capable of competing internationally. The squad was made up of the four vaulting groups in Scotland: Lauderdale, Shelidband, Gleneagles and Highland.

In 1997 the team achieved its first goal. They were selected to compete at the European Championships held in Achean, the team competed on Jenny Leggates experienced team horse called Kim and achieved a well-deserved 11^th place.

The team always keep on progressing more and more, and now they represent Great Britain as the Great Britain Equestrian Vaulting Team.

The team are always keen to do as many demonstrations throughout the year as possible as this is the best preparation for the major competitions. Although based in Scotland the team is the only one in Great Britain that can show team vaulting at International level and are very prepared to travel.
